Meet Tobias the newest member of staff, who will be helping with support queries.
Tell us about yourself
I recently returned to the UK after living in Taiwan for a while to undertake a personal photography project I’d been wanting to do for a long time. Before that I worked within North Yorkshire County Council’s Payroll division doing Customer Support and Data Processing (both highly relevant for my current role!) and going further back in time worked within (and eventually managed) a small, independent musical instrument store.
Outside of work I do a lot of photography (mostly architectural), Web Design (which of course feeds into work as well!), Non-fiction writing, and am a keen guitarist.
What does to role involve and where do you hope to take it.
My role primarily involves meticulously learning the ins-and-outs of the company’s software products to provide the best support possible to all of our valued customers and have the answers to any queries or issues that they might have.
In addition to that, I’m involved in the software installation and upgrade process, alongside producing technical documentation and video tutorials for WJP Software’s portfolio of products.
Within my role, I’d like to develop a fully realised suite of thorough and informative documentation for the newly released MRS 3 (including video tutorials), and get my teeth into some SQL Database and Server Management!
How are you finding working for WJPS and with its customer base?
So far so great! I’m naturally a multi-disciplinarian and this position allows me to get stuck into tasks within such a wide variety of areas that it’s never boring – there’s always something new to be learnt and something within my skill set that can be utilised in ways I never expected!
It’s been an interesting time to join the company, but despite having no physical interaction with any customers, I’ve already been able to solve some of their issues (judging from the responses!) and even been able to do some live demos through Microsoft Teams for our recent WCS User Group event which went really well and for which we got some great feedback!
Tell us a fun fact about you.
Whilst in Japan one time, I was once interviewed for Kansai TV about these little collectable toys that are available everywhere in the country. The presenter gave me some money to buy one and then filmed dozens of takes where I had to open it and look amazed. Evidently, I wasn’t convincing enough because that part never made it in, but the short interview I did with them did – I still have the footage somewhere where they pitched my voice up and dubbed me in Japanese!
We welcome Tobias to the WJPS Team. You can view the whole team.
